Manolito Gafotas 2003
Manolito Gafotas is an 8-year-old boy with a very particular approach to life: he lives in Madrid’s Carabanchel district with his parents, his brother (known as “The Imbecile”), and his grandfather. He spends a large part of his life at the Diego Velázquez school where he shares his adventures with Big Ears, Jihad and Susana Dirty-pants, driving his teachers round the bend.
Antonio Mercero took to the screen the adventures of the famous literary character created by Elvira Lindo. The young actor Christopher Torres played Manolito. Other important actors in the series are Adriana Ozores (his mother), Vicky Peña and Manuel Manquiña (“Airbag”).
After literature, Manolito Gafotas’ first stop was the cinema. Miguel Albaladejo directed the film in 1999. The theatre version, for its part, was brought to us by the Basque company Ados Teatroa.
